Job Description
The Solar Installer will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for clients across Lagos and Abuja. The ideal candidate will have strong field experience, a solid grasp of electrical and mechanical installation standards, and the ability to work independently or as part of a project team to deliver high-quality solar energy solutions on schedule.
This role combines technical fieldwork with site assessment, customer interaction, and adherence to safety regulations, making it ideal for an engineering professional who enjoys practical, results-driven work.
Key Responsibilities
Install solar panels, mounting structures, inverters, batteries, and charge controllers according to design specifications and safety standards.
Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine the most efficient solar system layout and installation approach.
Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to guide installation work.
Carry out wiring, grounding, and connection of solar PV systems to existing electrical infrastructure.
Test, commission, and troubleshoot newly installed solar systems to confirm optimal performance.
Perform routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair on existing solar installations.
Ensure all installation work complies with relevant electrical codes, safety regulations, and company quality standards.
Collaborate with project engineers, electricians, and site supervisors to meet project timelines.
Maintain accurate records of installation activities, materials used, and system performance data.
Provide basic technical guidance to clients on system operation and maintenance.
Identify and recommend improvements to installation processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
BA, BSc, or HND in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in solar PV installation, electrical installation, or a similar technical role.
Sound knowledge of solar panel systems, inverters, batteries, and balance-of-system components.
Practical understanding of electrical wiring, grounding practices, and relevant safety codes.
Demonstrated experience working on residential, commercial, or industrial solar projects is an added advantage.
Relevant certification in solar PV installation or electrical work is desirable.
Willingness to travel between project sites in Lagos, Abuja, and other locations as required.
Valid means of identification and ability to work both at heights and in varied outdoor conditions.
